The 36-year-old Bachelor alum addressed his breakup with Grimaldi in an interview with Us Weekly on Monday after the Season 21 winner broke her silence on Instagram.

"I still love her very much. I'm not afraid to say that," Viall told the magazine.

"My friends, my family and Vanessa and I are still very much each other's support system," he added. "We're trying to do that and it's a challenge at times, but we still realize that we're there for each other."

Viall and Grimaldi announced their split last week after getting engaged on the Season 21 finale, which aired in March. Grimaldi appeared to address the breakup in a post Monday morning.

"It's okay to feel broken," she captioned a photo of herself resting her head on a friend's shoulder. "It's okay to cry. It's okay to lean on a friend. In the end, it will always be okay."

Entertainment Tonight reported Grimaldi is spending time with family and friends in her hometown of Montreal, Canada, in the wake of the split.

"Vanessa has been spending time in Montreal, leaning on family and close friends," a source said. "She's been laying low watching movies at home and indulging in her grandmother's comfort food."

"She's still in contact with Nick so that makes things easier," the insider added. "They're still close."
