Variety reports that the NBA has signed a deal with two production companies to develop weekly one-hour "Who Wants to Be an NBA/WNBA Player?" series.

According to Variety, the show's concept would begin with regional competitions among skilled players in the U.S. and various countries throughout the world. The NBA would appoint an NBA player, a league scout and an experienced coach whom cameras would track as they scour the competitions, eventually winding up with 20 finalists: 10 male and 10 female.

The producers, Reveille Entertainment and Original TV, would fly the final contestants to an NBA city for a series of skills and conditioning tests and three-on-three games. One male and one female will come out a winner. Victory would entitle the male winner to a tryout with an NBA team and the female winner with a WNBA team.
