Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino signs deal for 'Jersey Shore' spinoff

By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 05/04/2011

He's co-starred in Jersey Shore, participated in Dancing with the Stars, and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino may now soon have a new show where he and his six-pack will have the cameras all to themselves.

Sorrentino has inked a development deal with MTV to get his own Jersey Shore spinoff reality series, Variety reported Tuesday. Although the show's concept reportedly remains unspecified, a pilot presentation is expected to be filmed later this year.

"I'm excited to continue my relationship with MTV, which has been home for me for the last couple of years," the reality TV star told Variety.

"I'm really grateful for all the support from my fans. Hopefully, there will be plenty more situations in the future."

Sorrentino -- who starred in the first three seasons of Jersey Shore and competed on the eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars -- is the fourth Jersey Shore cast member to sign a development deal for his or her own spinoff.

Last month, MTV announced it had picked up a Jersey Shore spinoff series starring Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "J-Woww," which reportedly began filming its pilot in January, as well as a second series which will follow the deejay activities of Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio. Both series will premiere next year.
