Dancing with the Stars couple Melissa Gilbert and professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy are apparently irritated the show had featured mostly all negative footage of their relationship in rehearsals during Monday night's live performance broadcast.

The former Little House on the Prairie star and Chmerkovskiy -- who were shown arguing and getting on each other's nerves during their video package which aired prior to them taking the stage -- said the dynamic of their partnership is extremely different from what was portrayed on television.

"It's frustrating but it's also silly. It's counterproductive because I don't get the point of it. It's ridiculous, we disagree sometimes, but more often than not it benefits me because looks what happens!" Gilbert told Us Weekly following last night's show, which had featured the couple performing a Viennese waltz that earned them 24 points from the Dancing with the Stars judges.

Although the show made Gilbert look like a victim, she told Us she had no issue with Chmerkovskiy's teaching methods because she wanted to improve and be able to hold her own against Dancing with the Stars' tough fourteenth-season competition.

"There was a lot of expectations, we had to work really hard. We've been on this consistent run and we had a lot to prove tonight. So I had to work extra hard and it's frustrating and I'm tired! And to motivate me, that's how we do it," she added.

Chmerkovskiy also defended the couple's relationship and suggested the show gave him justification to be angry.

"Well, I could get mad. I could be upset about this. But actually, I think no one else's negative moments are light enough for TV. Mine are the lightest that you can broadcast. The rest are so bad you can't show them on TV. That's my story and I'm sticking to it," Chmerkovskiy told Us after the show.

"We literally -- this was the most fun week we've had. We maybe had three to four percent of the time that was bad. This is week six! What do you expect?"

During last night's Dancing with the Stars broadcast, Chmerkovskiy appeared to come down very hard on Gilbert during their rehearsal footage.

"Really, it's a very good method for inspiring confidence. You don't inspire confidence," Gilbert said sarcastically of Chmerkovskiy -- who was telling his partner that her dancing "sucked" and training her was impossible, while he repeatedly swore when she made mistakes.

"Maks maybe is perceived as mean. To me, I just feel like he's pushing me to do more, but it's driving me a little crazy," Gilbert noted during the video package.

"You could do worse," Chmerkovskiy said.

"I don't think so, but how?" the amateur dancer asked.

"You could have an ugly partner," said Chmerkovskiy with a laugh.

After the couple danced their waltz routine to a Motown hit, Gilbert addressed the audience about their video package.

"Eighty-five percent of our experience last week was fantastic and what you saw was not that percentage," Gilbert explained.

According to Us, Chmerkovskiy didn't hesitate to rave about Gilbert when given the opportunity.

"This woman is amazing. She's bionic. And we've overcome so much already," the pro dancer said. "We don't make a story or a package out of any little thing, we tell the truth and this is our journey, you know? If we're the only ones who know what the real story is then so be it. My conscience is clear."
