Married at First Sight star Zach Justice has revealed his reasoning for repeatedly telling wife Mindy Shiben he wasn't attracted to her after their wedding.

During Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Zach watched back a clip from the show's tenth season in which Mindy was crying to him in their hotel room about how she felt like she had to be "perfect" for him and worried getting married was a mistake.

"Zach, what's it like seeing Mindy so upset there?" Unfiltered host Jamie Otis asked.

"I'm a sucker when it comes to emotion, and seeing someone hurting, yeah, it's not awesome," Zach replied.

On Mindy breaking down and expressing herself, Zach explained "It's interesting to see how [what I said] is being taken differently and she feels lousy from it, like, 'Oh, I need to be the perfect girl,' and that's not the context I was trying to put it in."

Jamie then asked Zach to reveal his intention behind telling Mindy he was not attracted to her.

"In the past, I would not have an attraction and maybe I'd be standoffish in my actions, and I would just be distant and not really explain why -- because I didn't want to tell someone I'm not attracted to them," Zach explained.

"So coming into this situation, it was different. I was going to be very transparent no matter what it felt like and not just leave it as, 'Sorry, this is the end.'"

Married at First Sight's tenth-season grooms Brandon Reid and Michael Watson also joined Zach on Unfiltered, and Brandon offered his opinion on Zach and Mindy's conversation about a lack of an attraction.

"It's like the cart before the horse," Brandon said.

"Those are the type of things that are worked out before we got to our honeymoon. That's a tough, tough, tough convo to have, and I think [Zach] handled it very well."

Jamie then attempted to give Zach some reassurance because she was actually not attracted to Doug Hehner, whom she wed on Season 1 of Married at First Sight and is still happily married to.

Jamie and Doug also have a daughter, Henley Grace, and are currently expecting their second child together.

"I stuck it out and I tried to keep my mind open," Jamie shared. "And obviously we are pregnant and we're so happy, so there's hope."

"Hope to say the least," Zach acknowledged. "I can see why we were matched. So there are a lot of things that do give me hope to say, like, 'This can evolve.'"

So why did Married at First Sight experts Pastor Calvin Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Dr. Viviana Coles match Zach and Mindy?

Zach insisted he has more in common with Mindy than just the facial moisturizer they both use.

In an earlier episode of Married at First Sight, Mindy joked with the other four couples during her Panama honeymoon that moisturizer was the only thing she and her husband had in common -- or at least the first thing that came to her mind.

"I applaud her for being light-hearted about it," Zach said of the figure skater, "but there are a lot of things we had in common."

"But it was a funny moment we shared together," Zach added. "And I was just happy that she brought it up, and I didn't care."

Jamie challenged Zach to list their similarities, and the personal trainer replied, "So, she's incredibly brilliant when it comes to nutrition and biology and physiology, [and] art. She loves art. She has great taste in music... We shared a lot of common interests there."

Jamie, being her optimistic self, told Zach in reply, "So there's a reason the experts matched you!"

"One hundred percent," Zach interjected.

"And you're starting to put it together," Jamie continued.

"Exactly, yeah," Zach noted.

The latest episode of Married at First Sight's tenth season featured Mindy and Zach trying to move on from their awkward exchanges about Zach's lack of attraction towards his wife.

The pair seemed to bond during a Panama excursion and have a good time together as friends, but Mindy left her honeymoon feeling disappointed and rejected.

Mindy viewed Zach as being confusing and cold, and she vented about how her husband barely kissed her or even held her hand during what was supposed to be a romantic, exotic honeymoon.

The couple's relationship issues will seemingly linger once they return to the Washington, D.C. area and are supposed to move in together.

Married at First Sight's tenth season also stars Brandon's wife Taylor Dunklin and Michael's wife Meka Jones as well as Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman and Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd.

Married at First Sight currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime.
