Married at First Sight star Michael Watson is explaining his side of the story when it comes to the alleged sex ultimatum he gave wife Meka Jones, insisting there was a misunderstanding.

Michael appeared on Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered and watched back a clip in which he and Meka both attended a pool party with the other Season 10 couples but barely acknowledged each other after arguing the night before.

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis asked if tension existed between Michael and his wife, and Michael replied, "I would definitely say there's some tension between us."

"We're definitely not seeing eye-to-eye at the moment," Michael admitted, "and it's definitely putting a strain on our marriage and how we interact."

Michael and Meka had argued over Michael allegedly giving his wife an ultimatum off camera while they were flying on a plane to Panama for their honeymoon.

Meka alleged that Michael had said if they didn't consummate their marriage by the end of the honeymoon, he would probably want out of their relationship.

Meka firmly stood by what she had heard, but Michael wouldn't confirm or deny on the show what his exact words were.

Instead, Michael just insisted he was trying to be direct and straightforward with his wife in their discussion about intimacy in order to avoid problems or confusion in the future.

Jamie therefore asked Michael to share his side of the story on Unfiltered, since Meka stuck by hers when she had appeared on an earlier episode of the spinoff.

"What happened?!" Jamie flat out asked Michael.

After letting out an awkward laugh, Michael looked down at the floor and responded, "Umm," before taking a deep breath and sighing.

"I think for me, it's just we had a misunderstanding of, like, the role that intimacy plays in our marriage. So the conversation got to the point where we just didn't see eye-to-eye," Michael explained.

"And I didn't feel comfortable at a certain point and she didn't feel comfortable, and so I removed myself from the situation."

By removing himself from the situation, Michael slept in a different hotel room than his wife during the first night of their honeymoon. The couple also apparently slept in separate rooms a second night as well.

"I mean, that's fair enough," Jamie noted. "Do you think it's important that you both work through it?"

"It's been difficult," Michael admitted, "but we were matched for a reason and I think the experts see something there and I'm not a quitter, so I do want to see it through."

Michael was joined by fellow Married at First Sight tenth-season grooms Zach Justice and Brandon Reid on Unfiltered, and Brandon offered his opinion on Michael and Meka sleeping in different hotel rooms on their honeymoon.

"For me, it's tough when you see a couple not really working out early on," Brandon explained. "Because we all want to continue being happily married. We hope that he works through it."

After the dispute, Michael took off his wedding ring, saying it was a representation of something he didn't live up to -- meaning his vows as a husband -- and so Meka followed his lead and suggested they should become friends before adding the pressures of romance.

In the latest episode of Married at First Sight's tenth season, Michael and Meka attempted to get their relationship back on track by enjoying an excursion in Panama and getting to know each other better.

At the end of a very busy day, Michael told his wife he had high hopes for their marriage and really cared about her, and so Meka pulled him in for a genuine hug.

In addition to Meka and Michael, Married at First Sight's tenth season also stars Brandon's wife Taylor Dunklin and Zach's wife Mindy Shiben as well as Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman and Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd.

Married at First Sight currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime.
