Married at First Sight star Alyssa Ellman has revealed that she told Chris Collette off-camera she didn't think he was her match after their wedding night.

Chris, 35, and Alyssa, 30, were matched for matrimony on Season 14 of Married at First Sight by the show's experts Dr. Viviana Coles, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Pastor Calvin Roberson.

Following Chris and Alyssa's wedding ceremony, Alyssa appeared to keep her distance from Chris as she vented about him being "immature" and possibly condescending in confessionals and didn't seem excited about or attracted to him.

Chris, however, thought his wedding was a huge success and that Alyssa was wonderful. He thought she'd just need time to open up to him, but then she suddenly told him that she wanted to sleep in separate hotel rooms, which left Chris feeling deflated and shocked.

On the January 26 episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, host Keshia Knight Pulliam asked Alyssa if she had ever told Chris how she was feeling, especially in regards to how the claim Chris can be "condescending" reminded Alyssa of a previous "toxic" relationship she had stayed in too long.

"I didn't say that I was in a relationship where that was an issue, but I did say to him, 'That really bothers me, that your friend said that to me,'" Alyssa explained.

But Keshia pointed out how there was a clear disconnect between Alyssa and Chris.

"[Chris] still, if I had to guess, is baffled about what he did [wrong]," Keshia noted. "Because he didn't understand how that connected to a prior experience."

Keshia added, "I know you were very present in terms of how you were feeling. Did you ever take a step back to think about how Chris was feeling?"

Alyssa replied, "Yeah!"

"I tried to talk to Chris off-camera about how he was feeling -- and about how I was feeling," Alyssa claimed.

"I said, 'Let's get away from the cameras. Let's just sit down and be honest with each other and say what's on our minds.'"

Alyssa recalled telling Chris, "I said to him -- I said, 'I don't feel like you are my match.'"

"Did you tell him why?" Keshia asked.

"Mhmm. I did say the reasons why. Even in that clip, I said some of the reasons why."

In the Married at First Sight clip that aired during Afterparty, Alyssa was shown telling Chris that she thought they're "two very different people" who don't have much in common.

"I think our hobbies are extremely different. I think the way we would live our everyday life is very different," Alyssa explained to Chris in the footage.

However, Alyssa had only known Chris for a couple of days at that point, which prompted Keshia to point out, "But the reasons why keep being on hearsay vs. anything that [Chris] actually did to you."

Alyssa didn't appear to respond, and then her Married at First Sight co-star Mark Maher offered his two cents on how he believed Chris had handled the situation.

"I think it's hard to say what he's thinking going through this," Mark said. "I think Chris just tried to remain calm and not push. I think he felt like she had pulled back and I think he didn't want to push."

However, Mark said he probably would have pushed Alyssa a little more to find out what he had said or done wrong.

"[I'd ask], 'What did I do? What did I do?' But I think Chris was more calm and reserved about how to do that," Mark shared.

"And whether I think it was good or bad, it's just how Chris is -- and it's just what happened."

Alyssa based her assumptions on initial interactions with Chris, including how he had joked about being "Alyssa's side piece" in an elevator, which turned her off.

Alyssa also focused on the warnings she had received from Chris' groomsmen on her wedding night about how Chris can be opinionated, a tad argumentative, and preachy in his quest to bring out the best in other people.

Alyssa insisted no one will ever fully understand what she was feeling after marrying her stranger husband, not even other former cast members.

Keshia went on to criticize Alyssa's desire to discuss things in private, suggesting Alyssa shouldn't have signed up for the TV show.

Alyssa said she wanted to be "respectful" and say certain things to Chris off-camera as to not hurt his feelings or come across like a mean person, and the more she felt like she had to defend herself as the talk show went on, the more she lost her composure.

Alyssa started to cry and eventually stormed off the Afterparty set.

Once Alyssa quit the interview, Keshia continued talking to Mark and their MAFS co-star Olajuwon Dickerson without her.

After Alyssa and Chris tied the knot on Married at First Sight's fourteenth season, Alyssa complained in a confessional, "He wouldn't normally be my type. I don't want to get upset. I don't want this on-camera."

Once the cameras were off her face, viewers could hear Alyssa venting to a producer about Chris behind closed doors.

Alyssa complained, "Physically, I do not see one characteristic in him that I asked [the experts] for."

Although Alyssa slept away from Chris on their wedding night, she still decided to go on their honeymoon to Puerto Rico -- with the intention of hanging out with their cast members, not necessarily together, and just having fun.

Alyssa told Chris that they could just try to get along and see how things go, but then she told him during the honeymoon that she felt "gypped" by being matched with him.

Once Chris voiced his frustration with Alyssa's lack of effort in their relationship and also questioned her intentions for going on Married at First Sight to begin with, Alyssa yelled, "We are not compatible! I don't want to argue anymore!"

"Why don't we just stop and say, 'This isn't going to work?' And be respectful," Alyssa shouted.

Chris noted how they looked compatible on paper but he believed he had been matched with someone who had "zero interest in trying."

Alyssa asked Chris to show her some respect, claiming she'd do the same for him in return, and then Chris agreed to give Alyssa the space she wanted.

Chris, however, felt Alyssa had been "gaslighting" him when she claimed he had disrespected her by sharing her off-camera comments with Alyssa's mother and best friend Taylor at the post-wedding brunch.

Married at First Sight's fourteenth season, which currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime, also stars Mark's wife Lindsey Georgoulis, Olajuwon's wife Katina Goode, Steve Moy and Noi Phommasak, and Michael Morency and Jasmina Outar.
