According to TMZ sources, Carey was "led to believe" she would be -- similar to Lopez -- the only woman on the judging panel. In addition, the sources also suggest Carey isn't pleased Minaj is 13 years younger than her.
If Minaj and Carey do both end up as judges,American Idol producers reportedly believe it would be a mistake to have two women and one man on the panel, which would make it necessary to add a fourth male judge to even things out.
According to prior reports, Latin artist Enrique Iglesias, country singer Keith Urban, rapper and music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs, singer and actor Nick Jonas, and singer Pharrell Williams have all been considered to judge Idol's next edition -- some celebrities further along than others in the talking and negotiating process.
