Kim Kardashian says her family understands sister Khloe Kardashian much better now that she and Lamar Odom are divorcing.

"I think [Khloe's situation] is just more understandable, because for so long, everyone in our family was feeling really sad for Khloe, thinking that she wasn't getting pregnant and everyone around her was," the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star said during a Thursday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

"And the whole time, she wasn't trying to and she wasn't showing up to these doctor appointments behind our back on purpose. She just knew it wasn't right and she knew that she wasn't ready. So now we understand it and now we understand her decisions, and so it's very clear."

Khloe filed for divorce from Lamar in early December. Khloe cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage in the filing, and requested neither she or Lamar be awarded spousal support from each other. In addition, she also asked the court restore her legal name from Khloe Kardashian Odom to Khloe Kardashian.

Lamar had been at the center of controversy for months regarding cheating scandals and an alleged addiction to crack cocaine, which jeopardized his career and deteriorated his marriage. The NBA basketball free agent was also charged for driving under the influence in September 2013 -- further fueling rumors a divorce was imminent.

"You know, it's life," Kim told Jimmy Kimmel. "Everything in life is about learning things and figuring it out, and when you have a really good support system, it can be easier. It's never going to be easy, but it could be easier."

Kim also admitted she "always thought" Khloe and Lamar's relationship would work out although sister Kourtney Kardashian was skeptical.

When Jimmy asked Kim if she feels guilty that things are going so well for her -- such as plans for a big wedding with new fiance Kanye West and having a young daughter North "Nori" West whom she adores -- in light of Khloe's divorce and her mother Kris Jenner's recent separation from Bruce Jenner, the reality TV star said it's not like that.

"You know, I think there's been some times when things haven't been so positive for me and they've been having really exciting times," Kim explained.

"So they deserve it, is what you're saying," the talk show host joked.

"No," Kim noted with a laugh.

Khloe, 29, and Lamar, 34, wed in September 2009.
