Clyde Picker, 41, was released May 1 after spending three years in prison for stabbing a man during a robbery and is on probation in Albemarle, N.C.

His father, also named Clyde Pickler, told The New York Post it looks like officials will let his son travel to Los Angeles on Monday to be with his daughter when the "American Idol" winner is crowned live on Fox TV next Wednesday night.

"He's relieved, he's doing great," the elder Pickler said by phone from his North Carolina home. "People have been treating him really well since he's been back so he's happy about that."

Defense attorney Curtis Crider said if probation officials refuse the temporary travel waiver, he will take the matter to court.

Kellie Pickler was eliminated from "American Idol" by public vote on April 26 and will travel with the "American Idols Live" U.S. tour starting July 6.
