Katharine McPhee's former Smash director Michael Morris is reportedly in big trouble with his wife, who kicked him out of their home after finding out he is allegedly having an affair with McPhee, who is also married.

Morris warned his wife of 10 years, actress Mary McCormack, that photos would be getting published of him and McPhee kissing in public, and McCormack kicked him out of their Los Angeles home on Sunday as a result, The New York Post reported.

"Mary threw Michael out of the house on Sunday night when he told her that TMZ had the photos and that they were about to be released," a source told The Post.

When Morris found out about the photos, he reportedly tried to buy them himself so they wouldn't be publicly released and potentially ruin his reputation and marriage, however, that clearly didn't work. The photos surfaced on TMZ earlier this week and showed Morris and McPhee lip-locking in broad daylight in a Hollywood parking lot.

Morris and McCormack have three daughters together -- with the youngest being two-years-old and the eldest nine. The couple has been married since July 2003.

McPhee, a 29-year-old actress and former fifth-season American Idol runner-up, is also still technically married to Nick Cokas, 47. They married in 2008 but the current status of their relationship is unclear in light of reports they had separated six months ago yet he still co-manages her music.

A source close to McPhee told The Post that after Smash got canceled, the singer headed to Los Angeles to work on her fourth album and reunited with Morris there. Smash had previously filmed in New York.

McCormack starred in USA's In Plain Sight and NBC's Welcome to the Family, which just got pulled off the air after only three weeks due to low ratings.

McPhee competed on American Idol in 2006 and lost to fifth-season winner Taylor Hicks. She made her acting debut in 2008 in The House Bunny, a comedy film starring Anna Faris.
