Wayne Newton's 65-year-old body didn't fail him as a Dancing with the Stars fifth-season celebrity two-stepper, however it has apparently hindered his plans to participate in the show's upcoming finale broadcast.

While Newton still plans on being in attendance at Dancing with the Stars' November 27 finale, the long-time entertainer will not be able to perform alongside the rest of the season's returning cast due to cardiomyopathy -- a viral infection to the heart, People reported Thursday.

"[I'm] going to be just fine," Newton told People.  "This is just another little bump in the road.  The doctors are a little more concerned than I am. Part of their concern is that I feel so good -- I'm not taking this lightly."

In addition to being unable to perform during Dancing's finale, the viral infection has also forced Newton to cancel a two-month engagement at Harrahs in Las Vegas.

"I really want to apologize to the fans that were going to see me in those shows," he told People.  "I'm terribly apologetic. And for those who want to paint this situation with a black brush, they're not going to get their wish. I'm going to be fine."

Doctors expect Newton --  who along with professional partner Cheryl Burke was the third couple ousted from Dancing with the Stars -- to make a full recovery within two months, according to People.

Despite the condition, Mr. Las Vegas told People he's going forward with plans to participate in Dancing with the Stars' upcoming 37-city North American tour, for which he's scheduled to perform at select locations.
