A new Fox reality series will apparently have celebrities helping to prank unsuspecting parents.

Fox is currently developing My Parents Are Gonna Love You, in which participants tell their parents about their new boyfriend or girlfriend who turns out to be an obnoxious celebrity, The Hollywood Reporter reported Monday.

"It's big, noisy, fun and harmless," co-executive producer Jean Michel Michenaud told The Reporter.

Fox is close to picking up a pilot for My Parents Are Gonna Love You, according to The Reporter, which added the series is based on a format from Banijay Entertainment, a European production company.

Fox is looking to add a competition element to the original overseas format in which the longer the fake couple can pull off the hoax the more money the parents win, according to The Reporter.

Michenaud is executive producing the series with Chris Cowan.  The two previously worked on Fox's Joe Millionaire, Temptation Island and My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance via their now-defunct Rocket Science Laboratories production company.
