FOX has announced the Houston and Atlanta open audition dates for the third edition of "American Idol."

Auditions will continue in New York (August 25) and Honolulu (date TBA). Exact locations will be announced shortly. As usual, participants will vie for a spot on "American Idol" and a chance at the title and a major recording contract. The next season of "American Idol" is set to debut in January of 2004.
