Flip or Flop star Tarek El Moussa isn't ruling out a reconciliation with his estranged wife and co-star, Christina El Moussa, down the road.

When asked if he could envision himself wanting to try again and work things out with Christina at some point, Tarek told Entertainment Tonight with a little laugh, "Maybe, like, 10 years from now."

Tarek, 35, and Christina, 33, separated in May 2016 following years of issues -- including a cancer battle and infertility struggle -- that caught up with them, and an "unfortunate misunderstanding" involving Tarek, a gun and police was the final straw.

"I don't know where the future is going to take me, but you never know," Tarek added of possibly getting back together during his ET interview, which took place over two months after the couple publicly announced their split in December 2016.

Tarek said he still has the utmost respect for Christina and she's a "great mom" to their kids Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 1. The pair also apparently remain "great friends" in light of Tarek's January 9 divorce filing to officially end their seven-year marriage.

"Honestly, it took a lot of work to get to a good place for both of us, that I think we are at the point where we aren't looking back, we are looking towards our future," Tarek explained.

But the decision to part ways was definitely a difficult one, especially considering Christina and Tarek work together on HGTV's successful home-renovation show Flip or Flop and they used to be madly in love.

"You know, we just had chemistry," Tarek recalled. "If I look back, we were absolute best friends, we were soul mates. We were arm in arm and for many, many years, we were the couple that other couples would be jealous of. All the married friends would say, 'Man, you guys are the best, you get along so well,' and over time, it just started to fade."

Despite rumors of infidelity and drama on the set of Flip or Flop, Tarek said his dynamic with Christina remains amicable for the most part post-split.

"You know, it's like anything -- there are challenges," Tarek acknowledged. "There are good days, bad days, but, you know, it's our job. We love what we do, so we fight through it. We know what we have to do to support our family and continue our career."

Christina and Tarek, who have both insisted their children will remain their No. 1 priority, were reportedly all smiles while filming Flip or Flop in Garden Grove, CA, late last week. Cameras caught the co-stars sharing a laugh together.
