His sitcom project with ABC might have fallen through, but former American Idol fourth season finalist Constantine Maroulis has finally found his way back onto television.

The 31-year-old Brooklyn, NY native will appear on CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful daytime soap this summer in a plot involving -- surprise, surprise -- music.

"We're going to blur reality a la Entourage and have Constantine play a fictional version of himself," The Bold and the Beautiful executive producer Brad Bell told TV Guide in the magazine's April 2 issue.  "He will become fascinated with online gossip about [media princess] Phoebe Forrester and want to be her music producer.  He loves her face, her voice, the whole package and sees her as a way to make money."

More than a cameo, Bell also said viewers can expect a love triangle between Maroulis, Phoebe and her lover Rick.

Maroulis was the seventh finalist eliminated from Idol's fourth season in April 2005.  He briefly tried a solo career before turning his attention to acting.  In the fall of 2005 he signed to star in a television sitcom called Brooklyn for ABC, but the network passed on the project before it got through the script stage.  However Maroulis didn't quit and in September 2006 he joined the Broadway cast of The Wedding Singer.  He turned that into a role in the off-Broadway musical revue Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris this past January.

If Idol fans and soap diehards are psyched about the possibility of seeing Maroulis on The Bold and the Beautiful, they'll be tickled to learn he might not be alone.

"Constantine isn't the only Idol we'll be bring to show this summer," Bell cryptically teased TV Guide.
