The American Idol second-season runner-up welcomed his first child Friday morning at an undisclosed location in North Carolina, his mom Faye told Raleigh, NC CBS-affliate WRAL-TV.

Jaymes Foster gave birth to Parker Foster Aiken at 8:08AM and the baby weighed  6-punds, 8-ounces and measured 19-inches long, according to WRAL.  Aiken impregnated Foster via artificial insemination.

"HE'S HERE!" Aiken confirmed in a blog posting on his personal website.

"My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)"

Faye told WRAL that the new parents and baby are all doing well and that Clay is "smiling from ear-to-ear."

"Wow ... 8:08 ... 08/08/08," marveled Aiken in his blog about the birth date and time.

"The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also."

Aiken's rep confirmed in May that the 29-year-old singer and 50-year-old record producer were expecting a child together in August.  The two have been friends ever since Aiken finished second to Ruben Studdard during Idol's Spring 2003 second-season.

They also have a professional relationship, as Foster produced Aiken's third album "A Thousand Different Ways" and his most recent album "On My Way Here."

The couple plans on raising the baby together, according to WRAL.
