E! News said the 47-year-old musician and reality TV personality left the hospital Wednesday, two days after surgery to repair a congenital hole in his heart that was discovered last year after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and emergency appendectomy.

Despite his health issues, he went on to win TV's "The Celebrity Apprentice" and returned to performing live on stage.

"Bret's procedure had excellent results," E! News quoted interventional cardiologist Dr. Mansour Assar as saying Wednesday about the surgery to correct the hole in Michaels' heart.

"Because of the successful outcome and Bret's determination, I believe he will be able to return to normal activity within weeks."
