'Biggest Loser' casting for eighth-season contestants -- and trainers

NBC has announced open casting calls for The Biggest Loser's eighth season, however the contestants who end up competing on the season may apparently find themselves working with unfamiliar trainers.

In addition to announcing the 14-city casting tour, NBC also revealed it is looking for "certified trainers with strong personalities who have a solid track record of taking the weight off of overweight clients."

NBC is casting new trainers "to keep creative options open for the new season," according to the network's casting tour press release.

When contacted for clarification by Reality TV World, the show's NBC spokesperson was unable to confirm whether current The Biggest Loser trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels will be part of the show's eighth season and declined to comment beyond the release.

Harper and Michaels served as The Biggest Loser's trainers for the show's first two seasons before Kim Lyons replaced Michaels prior to the show's third season. All three served as trainers for The Biggest Loser's Fall 2007 fourth season, however Lyons did not return for last winter's fifth season.

Harper and Michaels then subsequently served as trainers for both last fall's The Biggest Loser: Families edition and this winter's The Biggest Loser: Couples edition.

Both individuals and teams of two who are interested in competing in the reality weight-loss series are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming auditions. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and legal residents of the United States.

NBC announced that it had renewed The Biggest Loser for two more editions that will air during the 2009-2010 television season last month.

The Biggest Loser eighth-season casting call dates and locations are as follows. All auditions will be held from 10AM to 5PM.
