Jarvis will start her job April 3 working with every department in the New Jersey CNBC headquarters, TVWeek.com reported Wednesday.

"Rebecca has shown herself to be an intelligent, poised, inquisitive individual with a keen interest in business reporting," CNBC Senior Vice President David Friend said. "Her background as an investment banker and currency trader has provided her with the insights that will give her depth as a business reporter."

Jarvis worked for three years as a reporter on a weekly teen program in Minneapolis starting at age 16.

The University of Chicago graduate has been freelance writing for Crain's Chicago Business since the end of last season's "The Apprentice."
