Nida was sentenced to eight years in prison on Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges of bank fraud and identity theft, People reported.

Nida reportedly faced up to 30 years in prison but was granted leniency by a Georgia judge for cooperating with a federal investigation.

"On behalf of my client Apollo, right now he feels remorse. He thought the judge was fair, and accepts his sentence, although he was hoping it would be less," Nida's lawyer Thomas D. Bever told People.

"Apollo is elated that this proceeding is past him and is no longer handing over his head. It meant everything to him that his mother and brother spoke on his behalf. He's okay, and will get through this."

Nida pleaded guilty in early May after laundering over $2.3 million in the last four years by creating fake companies to steal people's identities in order to open fraudulent bank accounts in their names and deposit stolen money, according to E! News. He had been arrested on such charges back in January.

Nida was previously imprisoned from 2004 to 2009 for breaking federal racketeering laws related to auto-title fraud.

Nida married Parks, an attorney, the same year he was released from jail. The pair also began appearing on Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta together in 2009. They welcomed their first child, a son named Ayden, in 2010. Parks then gave birth to their second child, a son named Dylan, in May 2013.
