Animal Planet announces new 'Walk the Lion' Africa wilderness show

Animal Planet announced it has ordered Walk the Lion, a new reality series in which network regular Dave Salmoni will live among a pride of lions in the African wilderness.

Each Walk the Lion episode will follow the large predator expert, who left his job as a television producer and host to live for six months on the 75,000 acre Erindi game reserve in Namibiaan. 

The six-episode series chronicles Salmoni as he tries to forge a relationship with a pride of lions -- hoping to show that the large predators can live peaceful lives despite the constant threat from people.

Walk the Lion is currently slated to debut this spring.

Salmoni, a zoologist and renowned animal trainer, also serves as host for Animal Planet's Rogue Nature, Predator vs. Prey, Into the Lion's Den and After the Attack.

Walk the Lion is being produced by Salmoni's South Africa-based Triosphere production company.
