Andy Baldwin and Marla Maples spotted canoodling in Laguna Beach

By Christopher Rocchio, 04/04/2008

Considering she was previously married to Donald Trump, Marla Maples' claim that former The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman star Andy Baldwin is the most kind-hearted guy she's ever met shouldn't come as a total surprise.

"[Baldwin] is the most compassionate man I've ever met," Maples gushed to Us Weekly in a Thursday report. "He's just a good soul. He's an absolute, complete gentleman."

Reports surfaced last week that Maples -- who will compete on CBS' new Secret Talents of the Stars reality series -- and the 31-year-old Naval doctor have been "quietly dating" since he recently returned from a military mission in Palau.

So much for the quiet aspect of their romantic relationship, as Maples and Baldwin were spotted Tuesday "frolicking and making out on the rocks" in Laguna Beach, according to Us.

Baldwin presented his final rose and also proposed marriage to Tessa Horst during Officer and a Gentleman's pre-taped finale broadcast last May.  Horst accepted both the rose and the proposal and told reporters after the finale broadcast that she planned to relocate to Hawaii in "the next few months."

The couple announced the end of their engagement last August but insisted they were still very much a romantic item.  Although they didn't reveal any specifics at the time, the pair had cited the possibility of an end to Baldwin's Pearl Harbor assignment as the reason behind Horst's decision to cancel her plan to relocate to Hawaii.

While the two are clearly no longer a couple, it's Maples who will apparently benefit from Baldwin's upcoming move to the continental United States.

"They're moving him to D.C. soon," Maples told Us before realizing she still has a ways to go before Baldwin is completely free from Uncle Sam's grip.  "He still has four more years in military!"
