'American Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson sets down roots in Texas

"American Idol" and double Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson has settled down in Mansfield, Texas, it was reported Thursday.

The old flour milling and cotton town has become a popular destination, adding about 40,000 or so to its population in recent years, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Thursday.
City spokeswoman Belinda Willis said Clarkson, 23, changed her driver's license and voter registration to a Mansfield address last summer.
Officials tried to keep the move hush-hush, but Clarkson has been spotted at Mansfield's two main hangouts -- the Wal-Mart and an Italian restaurant.
