The American Idol champion's self-titled debut album has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America after shipping over one million units in its first three months of release.

"David Cook" was released on November 18 and debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 album sales chart after selling 280,000 copies during its initial week of release.

Cook's "The Time of My Life" coronation single -- which was released immediately after he defeated David Archuleta to win American Idol's seventh season in May -- also recently went platinum with over one million copies sold and ranks as the highest-selling coronation song in Idol's history.

"Light On," the first single off of his debut album, has totaled 677,00 paid downloads since it was released in September.

Last month, Cook announced that he will be embarking on his first headline tour.   Dubbed "The Declaration Tour - 2009," the tour will begin in Tallahassee, FL on February 13 and end on April 25 in Tulsa, OK.
