"Looking back on the last few months and all I gained from my experience on American Idol, it is incredible to know that this is only the beginning for me. Being signed by 19 Entertainment/RCA Records is a dream come true," said Dewyze.

"I know that by working with them, I have the support that will allow me to record the best possible album I can -- an album I'm proud of and confident in."

The 24-year-old from Mount Prospect, IL defeated Crystal Bowersox to claim American Idol's ninth-season title late last month and reports subsequently surfaced that he signed with 19 Recordings Limited/RCA Records while she signed with 19 Recordings Limited/Jive Records.

"Lee is the people's choice, the working class hero who won the hearts of America to become the ninth American Idol," said American Idol creator and 19 Entertainment founder Simon Fuller.

"Lee has a powerful voice, integrity and a passion for music that literally brought tears to his eyes. We are all looking forward so much to Lee recording his new album to be released in the late fall."

Last week, Dewyze's first single -- a cover of U2's "Beautiful Day" -- made its debut at No. 12 on Billboard's Digital Songs single-sales chart after moving 95,000 downloads in its first week of release.

Dewyze will be recording his album this summer while he also participates in the American Idol Live! concert tour, which kicks off July 1 in Auburn Hills, MI.
