'American Idol 4' winner Carrie Underwood signs deal with Skechers

"American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood is following in the footsteps of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera as the new face of Skechers shoes.

"Being a part of Skechers is exciting. It is such a hip company with a great attitude and image," Underwood said in a statement. "I've been wearing Skechers for years, so for me this is a really great project. I can proudly endorse Skechers -- and happily add more pairs to my closet!"
The country crooner will represent the shoe company through December 2006, E! Online reported Tuesday.
Skechers President Michael Greenberg said Underwood "is the kind of star young women can relate to -- as if they know her."
Underwood is preparing to hit the road for the "American Idols Live! Tour 2005" and is expected to release her debut album on 19 Recordings/Arista in November.
