Each one-hour episode of Wipeout will follow 24 contestants as they attempt to make their way through an obstacle course "designed to provide the most crashes, face plants, impacts and wipe outs ever seen on television," according to ABC.

The contestant who's able to overcome the most obstacles without biting the dust will win the $50,000 grand prize.

ESPN SportsCenter anchor John Anderson will serve as Wipeout's host, with actress Jill Wagner serving as co-host.

ABC began developing Wipeout earlier this year and it's produced by Endemol USA, which was responsible for NBC's Fear Factor reality series. The series is executive-produced by Matt Kunitz.

In addition to Wipeout's debut, ABC has also announced premiere dates for seven other reality shows the network will air this summer.

The Bachelorette's fourth season will premiere Monday, May 19 at 9PM ET/PT; The Mole's fifth season will premiere on Monday, May 26 at 10PM ET/PT; I Survived a Japanese Game Show will premiere on June 24 at 9PM ET/PT; Hopkins will premiere on Thursday, June 26 at 10PM ET/PT; Dance Machine will premiere on Friday, June 27 at 8PM ET/PT; High School Musical: Summer Session will premiere Sunday, July 20 at 8PM ET/PT; and Wanna Bet will premiere on Monday, July 21 at 9PM ET/PT.
