Dubbed Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas, the hour-long primetime music special will follow Hudson as she travels to her native Chicago "to share childhood memories of the music, people and places that set the stage for her phenomenal success," according to ABC.

"I am thrilled that Jennifer chose ABC to be the home for her very first holiday special," said ABC executive Vicki Dummer. "I can't wait to hear her take on Christmas classics as we discover what she loves about her hometown of Chicago."

It's been a busy year for Hudson, who performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl and subsequently saw her self-titled debut win a Grammy award for best R&B album in February.  She also had her debut national tour earlier this year and welcomed her first child with fiance David Otunga in August.

A specific airdate for the holiday special has yet to be scheduled.  It will be produced by Tall Pony Productions.
