"So you and Kaity had a venue picked. Did you have a date picked at this venue yet and you just didn't sign the contract? You had it all planned and then you decided not to go through with it? That's drama!" Ashley said on the Thursday, January 23 episode of "The Ben & Ashley I: Almost Famous Podcast."
Zach, 28, quipped, "That makes it sound very dramatic, and it's the complete opposite."
The Bachelor Season 27 star went on to clarify of his situation with Kaity, "So we had been planning or talking about wanting to plan our wedding, figure out a date, figure out a venue, what do we like, what we don't like."
"So one of our good friends just so happens to be an event planner/wedding planner," he continued, "and we were like, 'Let's just meet with her and let's talk her through what we're looking for.'"
Zach recalled telling this "good friend" some "rough guidelines" of what he and Kaity were envisioning for their big day.
"[We talked about] what we expect and what we'd like to have," Zach explained.
"And credit to our wedding planner, she took it and started to run with it and just started booking us [to visit] all these places. So we were like, 'Oh, wow, this is happening really quick.'"
Zach said he and Kaity "had explicitly shared" their wedding budget with this wedding planner and made it know their first priority would be buying a house together.
"[We thought], 'A wedding would be awesome, but let's see if it can fit into what makes sense for us,'" Zach noted, making it clear a wedding is the couple's second priority.
"And long story short, our lovely planner, she's like, 'Hey, with what you guys want to do, it's not going to be possible and with this venue that you guys do really like, just know you're going to go a lot over your budget.'"

Zach recalled taking some time to let that bad news sink in.
"We pondered on it for a week and we were like, '[It] does not feel good to just go so into this venue when we've already established what our priorities are,' which is buying a house and not a down payment for one day," Zach said.
"So we backed out of the contract. Not saying we're done with wedding planning. We've actually gone further in other areas, but we just couldn't do that. I don't know, like it's so crazy nowadays."
But Zach insisted that he would marry Kaity tomorrow if given the option.
"I don't know if Kaity wants me to talk about this, but we are planned to get eloped pretty soon -- like very soon," Zach revealed.
"And then we'll figure out celebration and all that -- the glitz and the glamour."
He concluded, "It's not a matter of when, it's the other stuff, like wanting to have family from all over come for it."

Zach popped the question for the second time to Kaity on their second anniversary while the pair was sailing on a romantic yacht in Lisbon, Portugal.
Kaity announced the big news via Instagram on November 22, writing, "How lucky am I to get to say 'yes' to you twice!"

In a November 11 video, Kaity initially broke the news that she and her fiance would be postponing their wedding planning for a bit.
"First off, wedding update: So we had a wedding venue, everything, and we actually didn't sign it," Kaity admitted.
"So we are floating the boat ourselves on this wedding, and having a wedding projected to cost $70K coming out of our pockets is just absolutely insane and not going to happen, especially when we're thinking about having a family."
The Bachelor 27 winner pointed out how she and Zach were thinking ahead -- and that included figuring out how they're going to pay for their children's schooling and "setting them up for a successful life."
Kaity therefore confirmed she and Zach, who had been eyeing a Fall 2025 wedding, decided to "take a step back" from wedding planning.
"At this point, Zach and I are just going to re-evaluate things, take a step back," Kaity noted at the time.
"Obviously we want to marry each other. We just want the best venue for the right price tag, as we all do. We also have the rest of our lives together, so it's like, 'Why are we rushing into anything?'"
Kaity explained the couple wanted to take things "day by day" and were just "loving being with each other" and building their relationship.
As for what's next, Kaity and Zach will be taking a trip to Tokyo in Spring 2025.
