Whitney Houston's sister-in-law, Patricia, says she would be kidding herself to say she was shocked the U.S. pop star died at age 48 last month.

"The handwriting was kind of on the wall. I would be kidding myself to say otherwise," Houston said in an interview to air Sunday on "Oprah's Next Chapter."

"It wasn't about substance abuse relative to the latter days or anything like that. I was afraid for other things -- lifestyle," Houston said. "I saw her chasing a dream -- looking for love in all the wrong places."

Whitney Houston divorced recording artist Bobby Brown in 2007 after 15 years of marriage. She then dated singer Ray J off-and-on until her death, UsMagazine.com said.

Houston died Feb. 11 in a Los Angeles hotel room on the eve of the Grammy Awards ceremony, which she was scheduled to attend.

The cause of the singer's death is under investigation, but a lethal mixture of prescription drugs and alcohol is suspected. She battled addictions to drugs and alcohol for years.
