Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It will first air as a Memorial Day special on Monday, May 31 at 10PM ET/PT and it is tentatively scheduled to premiere in the fall.

Michaels -- who has diabetes -- suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage on April 21 while recovering from an emergency appendectomy. He subsequently left the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ on April 30 and doctors have said they "really expect" him to make a "100% recovery."

"After Bret's recent appendectomy and life threatening brain hemorrhage, we're so happy that he is on the road to recovery and coming back to VH1 in Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It," said VH1 programming executive Jeff Olde.

"Bret is family to us and has always been a huge hit on the network, headlining several series and specials that have garnered record breaking ratings and made a strong connection with our audience."

Olde added that VH1 "temporarily halted production" on Life As I know It due to Michaels' health, which was the network's "primary concern."

"Production will resume when it is cleared by his doctors. If anyone can fight off illness and get back on his feet, it's Bret," said Olde.

"But in the meantime, in response to the flood of well wishes the network has received from Bret's fans, we'd like to celebrate Bret's recovery with this sneak peak special featuring the next chapter in Bret's story on VH1. It's a never-before-seen look into Bret's family life--the real center of his world from which he draws his unsinkable strength."

The Memorial Day special will follow Michaels as he balances life on the road as a musician with being a father to young daughters Raine and Jorja -- who refer to him as "Poppa Rocka."

Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It is being produced by 51 Minds Entertainment, LLC., with Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego serving as executive producers.

Michaels is one of two participants still in the running for The Celebrity Apprentice third-season title, and his representative recently stated that Michaels is "hoping" to attend the live finale broadcast next Sunday night on NBC.
