The Bachelor star Clayton Echard has revealed his father was skeptical and displeased when he found out what happened on Clayton's season of The Bachelor.

A preview ABC recently aired for the rest of Clayton's season shows Clayton telling three women he loves them and admitting to two women -- seemingly after Fantasy Suites -- he had been "intimate" with them both.

When asked to share his parents' reaction to such news, Clayton told Glamour in a lengthy interview, "How? I think that was the first question, [followed by], What? Why?"

"My dad shaking his head," Clayton admitted. "My dad had also a lot of other words as well. He's a straight shooter."

But Clayton suggested his father wouldn't know or understand what dating multiple women is like in the secluded, distraction-free Bachelor environment.

"I think if you're on the outside, I was like everybody else. I said, 'There's no way you can fall in love with multiple people. I won't do it,'" Clayton recalled.

"I literally walked into this being a Bachelor saying that I won't fall in love multiple people. It's not going to happen. Zero percent chance."

"Until you go through it," the Missouri native and former pro football player added, "it will never make sense, but it can happen and it did happen."

Clayton insisted his feelings of love for three women were real -- that he wasn't just infatuated or caught up in the moment and intensity of the process.

"I really do feel those feelings were very authentic," Clayton said.

"I don't know if I'll ever be able to explain to anybody and really make them understand that you can fall in love with multiple people at one time, because outside of this environment, I don't think people ever do that."

Clayton said, in fact, "You would never do that. There is no other environment where you can kiss a woman and 29 other women will watch that and be like, 'I'll stick around and give him a chance.' They'd be gone."

Clayton joked that if a man behaved that way in a bar, the ladies would "all bounce."

"Things are a little bit different in this environment, and because of that, I think I adapted," Clayton explained to Glamour.

"While I fought it at first and was like, I'm not going to fall in love with multiple women, then I started getting into that feeling, those feelings of love."

Clayton previously shared that he began falling in love with more than one person during the women's round of hometown dates, when Clayton was able to meet their families.

As the women expressed their feelings for Clayton, he was able to let his guard down and be truly vulnerable.

"I was like, 'Okay, I've fallen in love once in my life before. I know what it feels like, and I'm feeling it. It's not just with one person; it's with multiple," Clayton recalled.

"At one point, I tried to pull back, but then I was like, 'Nope, I can't. I can only fall in love with one.' Then I was like, 'No, these are the feelings, they're here. Let them out, let these women know, because they're not holding back. Why should you?'"

Clayton confessed that being so open with his emotions "of course" led to "a lot of intense moments," but "that's just how it had to go."

Clayton saw the qualities he wants in a future wife in several of his The Bachelor bachelorettes, including a woman who will be by his side and grow with him through the ups and downs in life.

"There's going to be those tough moments. That's where communication, transparency, all these other things start to factor in," Clayton said.

"You have to have a very mature individual that can have the tough conversations, because no relationship is easy."

Clayton apparently wasn't focused on just chemistry given looks can fade.

"You're going to get to a point 20 years down the road where things might change in a relationship and you might have lost the intimacy or whatever it might be," Clayton shared.

"It's like, can you talk about that? I think a lot of people shy away from it. I want someone that can have those tough conversations."

During The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All episode for Season 18, a sneak peek of Clayton's The Bachelor season aired and featured Clayton dropping two bombshells on viewers.

"I didn't believe it could happen, but I am in love with three women," Clayton admits.

Footage then seemed to flash to Clayton standing in front of two ladies, who appeared to be either his Final 2 bachelorettes or two of his Final 3 women.

"I just want you to know that what I'm about to say is not going to be easy to hear. I want to be fully, fully transparent, and I know it's not easy to hear, but I was intimate with both of you," Clayton confesses to the two ladies.

After the women are shown crying and breaking down, the drama leaves Clayton feeling "so broken" as he stares at a diamond engagement ring, seemingly unsure of whom to give it to.
