ABC has announced former The Bachelorette bachelor Chris Soules' upcoming edition of The Bachelor will premiere Monday, January 5 at 8PM ET/PT with a special three-hour live event. It will be the first live premiere in The Bachelor history.

While ABC has not announced the specifics of the premiere's live format, it will reportedly be similar to prior live finale formats and mix already filmed footage of the season's first-night cocktail party and Rose Ceremony with live in-studio segments hosted by The Bachelor host Chris Harrison.

Soules, a 32-year-old millionaire farmer from Arlington, IA, competed on The Bachelorette's tenth season starring Andi Dorfman and was eliminated when she determined her final two bachelor suitors.

He was subsequently announced as The Bachelor's nineteenth-season star in August.

"I was humbled, flattered, grateful," Soules told ABC's Good Morning America after the announcement. "I mean, coming from a small town, I had never really expected to have this opportunity -- to be on either show, let alone be the lead on The Bachelor. So, it's been awesome."

"I believe in the process. I believe in what I went through on the previous show, and that's why I'm doing it. I wouldn't do it if I didn't feel that potential."
