The Bachelor alum Zach Shallcross has revealed that he only settled on Kaity Biggar as his final choice one day before his marriage proposal on Season 27.

On The Bachelor's 27th season, which aired in early 2023, Zach was down to two bachelorettes -- Kaity and Gabi Elnicki -- during his final days in Thailand.

Zach had admittedly slept with Gabi in their Fantasy Suite, but he ended up choosing and getting engaged to Kaity at the Final Rose Ceremony, and the couple is currently living together in Austin, TX.

Given Kaity and Zach just watched Joey Graziadei's The Bachelor season unfold on TV, co-hosts Kathy Swarts and Susan Noles asked Zach when he knew Kaity was "The One" for him during the April 3 episode of the new "Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour" podcast.

"We actually talked about this, like, two days ago," Kaity said of Zach's The Bachelor ending.

"We've talked about it a bit," Zach confirmed, "because watching the show kind of resparks the conversations again."

Zach acknowledged that he and Kaity "experienced something very similar" to what they watched on Joey's The Bachelor season.

But Zach admitted that he wasn't completely sold on Kaity being his person until his time as the Bachelor was almost up.

"For me, [Kaity] doesn't love my answer, but it's the truth," Zach began to confess.

"So throughout the whole process, I was very in my own head. I analyzed everything to a tee. I overwhelmed myself with trying to figure out, 'Who is my right partner?' I was checking off the boxes and doing this and that."

Zach elaborated, "I tried to have every individual relationship and keep them sioled and not bleed into each other and keep that all in my head. So the problem was that I was being so analytical mentally that I wasn't letting myself just take a step back and feel, 'Wait, where is my heart taking me? Who do I feel like that is my person? Who am I truly in love with?'"

He noted, "And the actual moment when it happened was actually the day before our engagement."

Kathy shouted in disbelief, "What?! That long?!"

"I know," Kaity muttered, playfully acting annoyed. "I know, guys!"

Susan chimed in, "You need to get out of your own head, bud."

And Kathy added, "Zach, you're lucky that Kaity didn't tell you that she had a bus to catch!"

Zach agreed, saying, "That's right! True! But it was one of those things where when I took a step back, what I was able to acknowledge was, like, 'Oh my god, it's Kaity.' It was a 'no duh' [moment for me]."

Zach said he looked back at how he acted around Kaity and how he felt when in her presence.

"That was naturally [me realizing], 'I just want to spend my time with her.' I was like, 'She makes me feel like no one else can ever make me feel,' yet I was still being so analytical taking up every day I could to make sure," Zach explained.

Zach also pointed out how an engagement is "a big deal" for him.

"I was not just going to propose to say I'm proposing at the end of this. Either I'm going to feel 100 percent confident or not [make] a decision like that for myself. So, for me, I did think about it too much, maybe," Zach confessed.

Zach said he finally realized that love should be "pretty simple" and he should choose the woman whom he was the most drawn to.

"I literally just closed my eyes, and all I could see was [Kaity]. I didn't feel comfortable with anyone else except her in my life," Zach recalled.

"And I didn't want to just end it at this engagement. I wanted to keep hanging out with her and keep doing life with her. I was in my hotel the day before, obviously freaking out because an engagement is tomorrow... but then I just prayed like hell, closed my eyes, and meditated. I did everything I could."

Zach added, "And I couldn't get her out of my head. [Once I landed on Kaity], there was no doubt in my mind."

Zach's revelation, however, isn't news to Kaity, who insisted she does "not condemn" Zach for feeling confused in Thailand, nor does she get mad about his last-minute decision.

"That's just the way the show works. Everything is very compressed," Kaity pointed out.

"And I don't blame him for having clouded judgement because Gabi is an incredible woman as well. So when you have two -- I'm going to toot my own horn -- but when you have two incredible women in front of you, that has to be hard."

Kaity reasoned how a lead therefore can't possibly think "too much" about his or her final decision because an engagement is "so serious" and the commitment is real.

"I take it serious, and I think everybody on the show does as well -- well, for the most part," Kaity quipped.

Kaity then revealed that she and Zach are starting to wedding plan by "thinking about wedding venues" and other big details.

"We're thinking about a wedding more than we ever have before because I think, first and foremost, our priority is buying a house. We rent this beautiful home right now, but we're looking at buying a home by the end of the year," Kaity shared.

Kaity explained how that's where she and Zach want to spend their money right now.

"And then we'll obviously put some money aside for a wedding," Kaity noted. "We're thinking about October 2025, maybe here in Texas."

"It would be awesome," Zach concluded.
