The Bachelor alum Susie Evans has revealed why she recently cut a guy loose that she was dating.

"I was just kind of seeing a guy, and it's crazy," The Bachelor 26 winner began on the August 1 episode of "The Viall Files" podcast, which is hosted by Season 21 The Bachelor star Nick Viall.

Nick interjected and asked Susie if she hates the mystery guy now, but Susie clarified, "No, not at all. He was lovely and wonderful -- past tense."

When asked what happened, Susie explained, "I didn't think I would be the one, but I just felt like I need to focus on myself."

She elaborated, "I feel like I tell my friends all the time when they're kind of struggling -- like, 'I don't know if this is right,' or, 'I don't know what I need to be doing' -- I'm always like, 'Be selfish. It's okay to be selfish if you need to be selfish in this season of life.'"

The Bachelor alum insisted she is "emotionally ready to be in a relationship," but at the same time, she noted, "I was really struggling to balance pursuing somebody and just feeling secure and finding my own coffee shop and my favorite things to do."

Susie said she wants to feel "secure" in her career as a wedding videographer and also confident in "the direction" she's going in life.

The Bachelor alum also apparently wants to have her "own things in Los Angeles" before jumping into a relationship where her partner's "things become my things."

Susie went on to describe her recent ex as "great," but she admitted that she wasn't ready to fully commit.

"I think I needed to take a step back and be like, 'I need to just do me for a bit,'" Susie revealed.

Susie said her latest relationship lasted for about two months.

"I actually had this conversation with him where I was like, 'I'm really torn, because I think you're a really great person -- and we had a lot of fun getting to know each other -- but it was also a lot really fast, where we were spending a lot of time together,'" Susie recalled.

"And we had the conversation, like, 'Is this more about boundaries? Do we need to be more clear about what I'm looking for right now?'"

On the other side of the coin, Susie wondered if she just needed some space to "reassess" where she's at in life and what she wants.

"I think that's kind of what I'm doing right now... I used to always think that if you found the right person, you'd make time," Susie said.

"I used to always think that! I was adamant, like, 'If it's the right person, you'll figure it out.' And now I'm like, 'Ugh, I don't know if that applies all the time' -- or if it does, I'm taking the time to figure that out."

Susie said she never thought a person "owes" his or her partner time and that it's okay to focus on oneself.

Even though Susie isn't ready to settle down with a man, the Virginia native said she loves the dating scene in Los Angeles.

"I feel like I've got to hustle and grind and set myself up for whatever the next chapter of my life looks like," Susie told Nick.

"I've only been on two first dates, and [recent ex] was the second first date and we kept seeing each other. I keep hearing [dating] is awful in L.A. because everyone is career driven, so maybe I'm part of the problem!"

Susie, however, clarified that she's "not a super casual" person when it comes to dating.

"This may sound bad, but it kind of feels like a waste of time to [date now]. I know I want that eventually, but I'm not quite there... I've had fun in my life and I'm like, 'I'm kind of good right now,'" Susie explained.

"If the right situation-ship thing happened, maybe I would entertain it, but I know I catch feelings and I'm not trying to make this painful for anybody, including myself."

Susie also confirmed she's not romantically involved -- or interested in -- either of her The Bachelorette besties, Andrew Spencer or Justin Glaze, despite recent dating speculation.

Susie won Clayton Echard's heart on The Bachelor's 26th season, which aired in early 2022.

But Susie left the show during Fantasy Suites because Clayton had slept with, and also professed his love to, both Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.

Even though Clayton eventually came to the conclusion that Susie is a "once-in-a-lifetime woman," she convinced herself on the show that The Bachelor star wasn't her "person."

However, Clayton and Susie began communicating after filming ended in late 2021 and sparked up a romance in the real world.

They officially announced their relationship in March 2022 on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, but it didn't last long because they publicly called it quits on their romance in September 2022.

Susie and Clayton -- who have both said they're not compatible and fought all the time when they were together -- have managed to remain friends since their split.
