Joey popped the question to his The Bachelor winner, Kelsey, in late 2023, and the couple's engagement aired on the Season 28 finale of the ABC reality dating series in March 2024.

Since Joey and Kelsey's relationship has been going strong ever since, Kelsey revealed that marriage will definitely be in their near future.

"We are about to... We are going to start planning this year, which we're excited for," Kelsey told co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt during a recent appearance on the 'Bachelor Happy Hour' podcast.

"We haven't started yet because we are trying to figure out a location, but once we have a location, we can kind of narrow it down and we'll start wedding planning."

Kelsey explained of the couple's hesitation to dive into the details, "Our idea was that we didn't want to stress, and life has been really busy right now, so we don't want to put a huge other thing on our plate super fast."

Kelsey noted with a laugh, "We got engaged in two months, you know? So we're taking this seriously!"

Kelsey shared how she and Joey "are just enjoying life right now."

But one "area" they're apparently considering for their wedding "is the Carolinas."

"We thought it was a good middle [spot] between the both of us. My family is in Louisiana and his is in Philly, so that's a good [option] between the two states," Kelsey explained.

"And then we were also kind of thinking of maybe Italy, like a destination wedding, but then we were like, 'We don't want to make it too hard for everyone going there.'"

Joe suggested that Kelsey and Joey could travel to Italy for their honeymoon, and Kelsey agreed.

"That's what we're thinking, yes," she acknowledged.

Kelsey joked about how she and Joey are "going to copy" Joe and Serena, who got married in Charleston, SC, and then went to Europe for their honeymoon.

In terms of her ideal wedding dress, Kelsey said she got an idea of what she's looking for when she did a collaboration with David's Bridal.

"I've never been set in stone, like, 'This is the exact shape and the exact style that I want,' but I definitely thought that I wanted something that's timeless and that's pretty simple," Kelsey explained.

"But some of the dresses [I tried on] had a little bit more detail than maybe I would have thought that I would've gravitated towards that I really, really liked."

Kelsey said she actually really enjoyed wearing floral decals, which made her feel "very beautiful and feminine and comfortable."

Kelsey said it will be "a big thing" for her to be comfortable on her wedding day.

"Some of them have pockets, even!" Kelsey gushed. "You can put your lipstick in there!"

Serena asked Kelsey if she'd like to repurpose or alter her mother Denise's wedding dress (given Denise had passed away after a battle with cancer) and Kelsey replied, "Umm, I think maybe so."

"My mom ended up not wearing the wedding dress that she had," Kelsey said.

"But I think that maybe I would take a piece of some type of clothing of hers that meant a lot to me and somehow incorporate it into something in our wedding for sure."

Kelsey, a self-proclaimed "very sentimental person," added that she "definitely wants a piece" of her mother in her wedding.

"There's a lot of ideas that I have for incorporating the people that aren't with us presently anymore into our wedding, like Joey's grandma who passed away. She was very, very special to him -- and so was his grandpa," Kelsey shared.

"And so I want to think of ways we can honor them because they were big people in our lives."

When asked to share her non-negotiables for her wedding, Kelsey explained, "Honestly, I feel like I need a wedding planner to help me narrow down all the little details... The only thing I really [want] that both Joey and I have said is that we want it to just be a big party."

The Bachelor alum elaborated, "After we say our vows, we just want to have a big celebration. We want everyone on the dance floor, so we've got to find the perfect band or perfect DJ!"

Kelsey added, "But yeah, there's nothing that I'm like, 'Absolutely not.' I'm pretty open. But I don't think I want everything to be super traditional. I want it to kind of form into what we feel is right for us."

In the meantime, Kelsey and Joey are enjoying living together in Los Angeles, CA, following Joey's Dancing with the Stars stint. (Joey won Dancing with the Stars' 33rd season with pro partner Jenna Johnson).

Kelsey said she and Joey have "similar taste and style" and so decorating their place in L.A. has been fun and she's loving her new city.

"Making a home together, Joey and I, has been really fun and really special," Kelsey gushed.

"I was really worried because I never lived with a significant other before, and so I was a little, 'Ohh, I'm living with a boy! We'll see how this goes.' But it has honestly been seamless. I joke that Joey is the best roommate."

Kelsey went on to describe Joey as "very clean and very considerate," and she concluded, "Living together has been a breeze, honestly."

After Kelsey and Joey's one-year lease is up, Kelsey said they'll have a decision to make about whether to stay in California or try somewhere new.

The Bachelor is currently airing its 29th season starring Grant Ellis on Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
