The Bachelor alum Jacqueline Trumbull called off her wedding to her fiance last month but still proceeded to enjoy the European destination wedding with her family and guests.

Jacqueline and her ex-fiance Paul Seli were set to marry in a destination wedding in Portugal on July 9 and Jacqueline's decision to end the relationship apparently happened so close to the date that Jacqueline and many of her family and friends still ended up proceeding with their travel plans anyways.

"A deep thank you to all my wonderful friends and family -- and even my advisor! -- for coming out to Portugal even though I chose to not get married and end my relationship," Jacqueline wrote Wednesday on Instagram.

Based on her posting, Jacqueline's decision to break up with her fiance so close to their wedding date wasn't an easy one.

"Almost all my wedding guests came out and showered me with love and support. It was an incredibly moving week. I'll never forget the kindness of my friends during such a difficult time," Jacqueline continued in her post.

"It was also beautiful to see all these people I'd known separately fall in love with each other. I have the most brilliant, funny, thoughtful friends and family who made what could have been a terrible memory into one of love and joy."

Jacqueline had hinted that she had recently made an unexpected and major life decision earlier this week.

She shared on Instagram, "Throwback to Sintra, Portugal, where things were supposed to go differently. My life would be very different now if Sintra had gone according to plan. I've often found greater happiness through thwarting plans and knowing when to step off the path."

When a follower asked Jacqueline what changed, she replied in the comments, "I came to my sense."

Jacqueline, however, refused to explain what happened, telling a follower, "I have no desire to hurt him or air dirty laundry," suggesting he may have done something wrong.

Jacqueline had posted a photo showing her posing with most of her family in Portugal on July 13.

"All together in Portugal," she wrote.

For Paul's part, he recently wrote on Instagram in a since-deleted post, "When your ex calls off your wedding two weeks before and you don't want to waste a good canvas that's symbolic of your love for her," according to Us Weekly.

Paul appeared to be referencing a painting he had made for when he proposed marriage to Jacqueline in December 2021.

When Jacqueline announced her engagement at the time, she shared on social media how Paul had pulled off "the most amazing proposal," writing, "[He gave me] a painting [that] is of a proposal and he made that for us to keep for the rest of our lives."

Jacqueline had celebrated her bachelorette party in Las Vegas in June only a few weeks before her wedding date.

The Bachelor alums Kendall Long and Maquel Cooper were in attendance for the party, which also doubled as Jacqueline's birthday bash.

"Had so so so much fun celebrating not only your day of birth but Bachelorette in Vegas!!" Kendall wrote alongside an Instagram picture from the weekend. "Can't wait for your wedding and to make more memories."

And Jacqueline gushed on social media at the time, "Happy 31st birthday to me!!!"

"My best friends flew out to celebrate my bachelorette and birthday and we had a TON of very messy fun," she added. "I feel very loved and am reminded of how amazing my people are."

Jacqueline competed for Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s heart on The Bachelor's 22nd season.

While she made it pretty far on Arie's season of The Bachelor, Jacqueline eventually decided to quit the show because she felt they were headed in two different directions in life given she was looking to earn her Ph.D. in clinical psychology and Arie said he was hoping to settle down and begin a family life.

Jacqueline joined Bachelor in Paradise's fifth-season cast after the women handed out roses to the men at the season's first Rose Ceremony.

Unfortunately, her time on in Paradise then proved to be short and she was eliminated when she did not receive a rose at the season's second Rose Ceremony, which featured the men giving roses to the women.

Jacqueline went on to date Jordan Mauger -- who originally starred on The Bachelor New Zealand and was one of the international participants on ABC's The Bachelor Winter Games -- in 2018, but their relationship ultimately didn't work out.
