The Survivor broadcast began on Night 17 with Mary lamenting about how her No. 1 ally, David Kinne, was gone.
Mary acknowledged that four players had "completely played" her and she felt "screwed."
Those four Survivor castaways were Eva Erickson, a 24-year-old PhD candidate from Eagan, MN, who currently resides in Providence, RI; Shauhin Davari, a 38-year-old debate professor from East Bay, CA, who currently resides in Costa Mesa, CA; Kyle Fraser, a 31-year-old attorney from Roanoke, VA, who currently resides in Brooklyn, NY; and Joe Hunter, a 45-year-old fire captain from Vacaville, CA, who currently resides in West Sacramento, CA.
Eva promised Mary that she wanted to continue working with her for as long as possible but she was not going to play her hidden Immunity Idol on her. Eva was straightforward with her, however, refusing to swear that she'd never write her name down.
Mary and Star got together to "look at the cracks" and try to figure out which castaway may flip. They questioned where Mitch, a 34-year-old P.E. coach from Waco, TX, stood.
Mary, Star and Kamilla Karthigesu, a 31-year-old software engineer from Toronto, Canada, who currently resides in Foster City, CA, then discussed how they wanted to get Joe out next and "the revolution" was coming for the non-athletic castaways in the bunch.
"We don't have the 300-pound biceps, but what we do have is spirit -- and spirit goes a long way!" Star exclaimed in a Survivor confessional.
On Day 18 of the Survivor game, Shauhin tried to bring the "free agents" in closer with his alliance because he knew the outsiders could band together and take out one of his own.
Shauhin and Joe therefore talked to Mitch about targeting Star, and the men also tried to link Kamilla in with them.
Joe then discussed with Eva how it was a tossup between Star and Kamilla next, and then after that, their alliance could take out Mary and Mitch in either order.

The strong Survivor alliance felt unbreakable, and Joe noted how his group had a real shot to get to the end.
Afterward, Star tried to convince Mitch to join "the revolution" by allowing the next vote to come to rocks.
But Mitch called Star "the biggest joke in the game," and he noted how Star had written his name down at the last Tribal Council session.
Kamilla, however, didn't want to get picked off by the majority alliance, even though she was super tight with Kamilla. Kamilla considered joining forces with the outsiders, but it would mean taking one of Kyle's allies out.
Kamilla warned Kyle that Star and Mary wanted to vote for Joe, but Kyle said he was "done betraying people's trust." Kyle was apparently worried that the jury wasn't going to like him or forgive him.
Kamilla assured Kyle that she would do "the dirty work" for him with Joe, and so Kyle decided to just sit back and allow things to happen so he wouldn't have the blood directly on his hands.
"Our season has been about emotional connections, and I don't know if strategy and backstabbing and those traditional moves are what the jury is looking for," Kyle explained to the Survivor cameras.

Jeff explained that the Survivor castaways would have their feed tied together with their arms tied to their sides. The players were instructed to slither through the sand like a snake while using their mouths to drag a buoy.
After maneuvering the buoy through a final obstacle, the players must throw -- and land -- three rings onto targets.
The winner of the challenge would be taken by boat to a nearby Fijian island for an afternoon picnic of fried chicken and waffles.
Kyle ended up winning Reward, and he selected Eva to join him for the feast. He also got to choose one more person, and so he picked Kamilla, saying she had a rough few days before that point.
And finally, Kyle asked Shauhin to enjoy the Reward with him because he brought positive energy to the tribe and made everyone laugh.
Mitch admitted he was "disappointed" in Kyle and didn't feel like he could catch a break in the game. Joe also told the Survivor cameras that Kyle's Reward picks "bothered" him.
Joe, however, gave Kyle the benefit of the doubt by saying maybe his Reward picks were a "genius" move because Kyle wanted to leave him on the beach to babysit Mary and Star.
Had Kamilla been left out of Reward, Joe feared she would've been all over Mitch, Mary and Star.
Joe attempted to get on Mary's good side and connect with her on the beach, but Mary thought it was just jury management and not sincere.
Mary was then shown asking Mitch to go to rocks because it would flip the tribe dynamics upside down.
Mitch wasn't sure if he was truly part of the six, and so he had to decide whether to take a big risk with Mary, Star and Kamilla.
"These people have four votes and we have four. I don't want to play a scared game here," Mitch told the Survivor cameras.

On Day 19, it became time for the Individual Immunity Challenge.
Each Survivor castaway was required to use a rope to balance a wobbly table while stacking letter blocks. If at any point a stack dropped, that person would have to start again. The first person to spell "I-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y" would win immunity and be guaranteed a spot in the Final 7.
One of the losing castaways would end up being the eleventh person voted out of the Survivor game.
Jeff then offered the tribe a big bag of rice in exchange for people sitting out of the challenge.
No one wanted to sit out, and so there was no negotiation.

The lead changed multiple times as letters continued to drop for people, and so Jeff called it a real "battle" to the finish.
In the end, Joe won Individual Immunity. It was his third Individual Immunity win of Season 48.
After the challenge, Star switched her target to Shauhin, and she hoped Mitch would get onboard. Mitch told Star to play her "Shot in the Dark," and so this was an alarming revelation for her.
Mitch warned Shauhin that Star was gunning for him since Joe was safe.
Mitch knew he needed to make a big move, but he said he couldn't make big moves with people he didn't trust -- and he didn't trust Mary or Star.

Mary proceeded to pitch Kyle's name to Kamilla, but Kamilla had no desire to do that. Kamilla ratted Mary out to Mitch and Joe in order to protect Kyle.
Mary discovered that Kamilla was lying to her face and so she and Star were on the bottom.
"Star and I know it's one of us tonight," Mary told the Survivor cameras. "I really like Star, but if it's between me and her, it's got to be Star tonight."
As a result, Mary spoke to Shauhin about how she was willing to vote Star out. Mary asked Shauhin to use her as a number and work with her, and Shauhin let Mary know that Star was the better option for that evening.
Heading into Tribal Council, Shauhin and Joe debated whether to take out Star or Mary, who was more likely to win Immunity. Joe wanted Mary out instead of Star because she was "dangerous" and "desperate."
Star, just like Mary, was willing to write any name down in order to save herself.
At Tribal Council on Night 19, Mary admitted she was wondering if she was going to see another day in the game. In a last-ditch effort to stay, Mary insisted she was trustworthy and didn't cause chaos.
After the Final 8 castaways cast their votes, Star didn't play her "Shot in the Dark."
Jeff then read the votes aloud in the following order: Star, Mary, Star, Mary, Star, Mary, Star, and Star.

The episode's closing credits later showed that Mary, Eva, Shauhin, Kyle, and Joe voted for Star.
