Survivor 48 alum David Kinne has revealed that his girlfriend left him after he lost the game and missed out on its $1 million prize.

"A few weeks after she found out I didn't win, she was out the door," David, 39, told Entertainment Weekly after his Survivor elimination aired on April 23.

"So as many people probably laughed at that whole thing, it was unfortunately true."

During the third episode of Survivor 48, David -- a stunt performer from California -- opened up about how his "choices in life" were great, for the most part, but they resulted in financial instability.

David, who was living in a trailer outside of his dad's house prior to filming the show, mentioned how his girlfriend was probably going to dump him if their situation didn't change.

"She's 32 and I'm 38. She wants four kids and she wants to be a stay-at-home mom... I know she loves me and she wants to be with me, but she just has that huge doubt. She doesn't know if we can make it work financially," David explained.

"I only have a girlfriend when I win one million dollars, because she's going to leave me if I don't."

David said the idea of losing his girlfriend because he couldn't provide was "a heavy subject" for him.

David got emotional and claimed that his girlfriend didn't just care about money.

"I get it. That's a job to her, is raising children," David clarified. "And I take that very seriously. There's nothing I want more in this life than a family."

He added, "There is nothing I want more than settling down... I'm fighting for my future family... and that million dollars is the guarantee for me that I can start a family. That's my ultimate dream."

Although David got dumped shortly after he returned home, he found love again.

David told EW that he's happy and dating again.

"Things are going now," David said. "I'm dating the most incredible woman. She's phenomenal. I'm truly feeling blessed right now. So yeah, I'm almost glad I didn't win a million dollars on that."

David told the New York Post in a separate interview that his breakup was actually "a blessing" because it "was a really toxic relationship looking back" on it.

David also shared how he's moved out of the trailer and is living in Ohio.

"I'm working as a jump pilot," David said.

"So I'm flying skydivers for the season. And so I am building hours towards the career, getting in the airlines, starting that family one day that I truly want."

On Survivor's April 23 episode, David got the sense that his ally, Kyle Fraser, was working with Kamilla Karthigesu behind his back. David wanted a strong, physical player to win Survivor 48, and so he teamed up with athletes and challenge beasts. (Kamilla was not part of that alliance).

David lost the Immunity Challenge following a battle of endurance against Joe Hunter, and then, because David was spiraling, Joe and their other allies turned on him.

"I guess you could say I lost focus for a quick moment," David shared. "But I had a sinking feeling that it wasn't just the challenge that I had lost in that moment."

At Tribal Council on Night 17 of the game, the Niu Nai tribe blindsided and voted out David through a 6-3 vote instead of Mitch Guerra.

"The first time I saw my name, I knew it was over," David recalled of Survivor host Jeff Probst reading the votes aloud.

"Because why else would anybody be voting for me? The people on the outs wouldn't be voting for me if they didn't think that there was the majority, and the majority wouldn't be there unless my allies had turned on me."
