The apparent new-found ratings popularity of the second season of NBC's Last Comic Standing continued last week as the program, a modest hit during last summer's first season, once again drew excellent ratings during its Tuesday and Wednesday evening broadcasts.

Airing at 9PM, Tuesday's Last Comic Standing established a new regular time period record for the series in the Adults 18-49 demographic and matched the show's highest rating overall, drawing 10.4 million overall viewers and a 4.8/13 rating/share in Adults 18-49. Versus the same night last year, the Last Comic Standing episode was up a whopping 37 percent (with a 4.8 rating vs. a 3.5) in Adults 18-49. The June 15 telecast also experienced superb growth from its first half-hour to its second, rising to a 5.3 from a 4.2 in Adults 18-49. Excluding ABC's NBA Finals game, Last Comic Standing was the top-rated show on television Tuesday night.

Facing a more difficult task in airing at 9PM ET/PT against a new 9:00-9:30 episode of FOX's The Simple Life 2 (which had premiered earlier that evening at 8PM ET/PT), Wednesday's Last Comic Standing still faired well. Despite the competition, the June 16 episode drew 9.8 million viewers and a 4.3/13 rating/share in Adults 18-49 and nearly stole the hour's Adults 18-49 crown from FOX's Simple Life and Method & Red combo, finishing just a one tenth of a ratings point behind the FOX pair in the coveted demographic.

With Simple Life ending at 9:30PM ET/PT, Last Comic picked up steam in it's second half, dominating the half-hour in Adults 18-49 and other demographics. Though a late schedule addition, Wednesday's Last Comic built on its lead-in by a towering 72 percent (with a 4.3 rating vs. a 2.5) and increased in 18-49 rating by 26 percent from half-hour to half-hour (to a 4.8 from a 3.8) and won the hour among Adults 25-54, Men 25-54, Women 25-54, Women 18-49 and total viewers.
