Cowell, who turned 48 recently, spend $1.5 million in Los Angeles for a Bugatti Veyron, the fastest and most expensive street legal car in the world, The Daily Mail reports.

Then, on his way back to London, Cowell stopped off at the prestigious Romans International UK dealer to purchase an $800,000 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

The Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 253 miles per hour, with the Rolls clocking in at a paltry 149.

An unidentified source told The Sun that Cowell, reportedly worth $200 million, had no problem with his recent acquisitions.

"He loves cars. They're one of his biggest passions. And only the best is good enough," the source told the British newspaper.
