Mediaweek reports that as America gears up for the season finale, last night's installment of Fox's "American Idol" scored a whopping 16.9/25 from 8-9 p.m. -- 69 percent above the season finale of CBS's JAG (10.0/15) and the program's best ratings of the season. More than 27 million viewers tuned in to watch Clay and Ruben sing their final songs.

Needless to say, "American Idol" was the most watched show of the evening.

With a lead-in the caliber of American Idol, the season-ender of Fox's 24 at 9 p.m. ranked first with a 10.6/15 -- besting the first hour of the conclusion of CBS miniseries Hitler: The Rise of Evil (9.1/13) by 16 percent. Overall, Hitler concluded with a decent 9.2/13 from 9-11 p.m.
