Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, has decided to move on from that era after placing second in a British TV survival show, The Mirror reported.

Burrell spent two weeks in the tropical Australian outback as part of ITV's "I'm a Celebrity -- Get Me Out of Here" series, and told the newspaper the experience changed him, even though he placed second to a comedian in a viewer poll.

"I've never felt so petrified and ill in my whole life," he said of having to eat live bugs. "So many people saw me only as the dutiful 'Diana's butler' but now they've seen the real me away from the royal butler image and the slurs people have written about me."

Next year, Burrell will be a key witness at the British inquest into the princess' death, which he expects to be his last royal duty.

"Once the inquest has taken place, I will feel happier about moving on and doing my own thing," he said.
