Peta Murgatroyd insists she knew she was going to end up marrying Maksim Chmerkovskiy even though the couple hit some bumps in the road.

When Murgatroyd conducted an interview with Us Weekly alongside her best friend and Dancing with the Stars co-star Sharna Burgess, the future Mrs. Chmerkovskiy explained she had no doubt the bad boy of the ballroom was "the one" after they began seeing each other.

"When we dated in 2012, we used to talk about it all the time. It was just something that, I don't know, it was just like it was going to happen," Murgatroyd, 29, told Us. "We just took a little detour for a year."

After 10 months together, the couple split in 2013 just a couple of weeks before Valentine's Day. They reportedly dated other people before getting back together in January 2014.

"Peta is his girl and he's never stopped wanting to be around her," a source recently told People.

Chmerkovskiy proposed to the beautiful blonde during a performance of Sway at the Olympia Theater in Miami, FL, back in December. Murgatroyd couldn't help but gush about all the things she loves about Chmerkovskiy.

"I've always said he has the most incredible generosity. He wants to take care of everybody that he knows. He has an incredible sense of humor when you get to see it," Murgatroyd told Us.

"I think that his bad-boy image is slowly kind of drifting away -- and that harsh Maksim image. He is the biggest teddy bear you'll ever meet underneath that Ukrainian look. I just love him. Everything about him. He's just a great man. And somebody that I've always seen as being a great father and a great husband."

Burgess laughed about how she was "tormented" by the fact she missed Chmerkovskiy popping the question. Although Burgess was thrilled for her best girlfriend, she was so sad she couldn't be there for it.

"I think Maks knows I'll kill him if he messes this one up!" Burgess admitted. "But I don't believe he will. That's not even in the cards. They're so obsessed with each other. This was meant to be. It was always going to happen."

Murgatroyd also revealed Chmerkovskiy's proposal was a huge surprise to everyone in his family -- including his brother Val Chmerkovskiy -- because the family is so close, word would get out quickly.

And in 10 years, Murgatroyd would love to have two or three children already with her husband.

Dancing with the Stars' 22nd season is set to premiere March 21 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
