Nick Viall is well aware he needs to step up his game on Dancing with the Stars, but he needs to relax in order to do just that.

The Bachelor star, 36, revealed he'll be the first to take the stage in Week 3 of the competition with his professional partner Peta Murgatroyd for a tango set to a Lady Gaga song.

Nick, unfortunately, gets inside his own head when he prepares to perform.

"I tense up right before the dance and I kind of choked, honestly," Nick told People in a video blog, referencing his performance last week in which he tied with another couple for ninth place on the leaderboard after receiving only 25 out of 40 points from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli.

Nick said he "choked" before dancing the foxtrot with Peta. As fans may recall, he stumbled with the choreography halfway through the routine and appeared to start laughing with anxiety.

"Last week was okay. I don't know if you saw on the monitors, but I actually stopped literally in the middle of the dance, and I'm just glad I recovered," Nick admitted. "But that's why I got some of the mixed reviews from the judges."

Nick therefore probably needs to take a few deep breaths, concentrate, and not put so much pressure on himself.

Nick also recently revealed it helps when his The Bachelor fiancee Vanessa Grimaldi is sitting in the audience when he dances. The former software salesman said the Canadian beauty is "very supportive" and he "definitely feels more comfortable" when she's present in the ballroom.

Moving forward in the competition, Nick said in the video: "I just need to chill out a little bit. Tonight's going to be a big night."

The theme of Monday night's Dancing with the Stars broadcast will be Las Vegas, and one couple must go home at the end of the episode. (Chris Kattan and pro partner Witney Carson were the first couple eliminated from Season 24).

"Hopefully by the time you see this, Peta and I will have knocked it out of the park and we'll kind of rewrite this season and we'll see," Nick told his fans. "If not, I might be going home pretty early."
