Nick Carter confirmed he's expecting his first child with wife Lauren Kitt and also revealed the baby's sex during Monday night's episode of Dancing with the Stars.

During a video package that aired last night before Carter danced a heartfelt contemporary routine with pro partner Sharna Burgess, the Backstreet Boys member happily disclosed his wife is four months pregnant following a recent miscarriage.

"We've been trying to have a baby for about a year now," Carter, who wed Kitt in April 2014, was shown saying. "It's been rocky to be quite honest with you. There have been times when we thought it wouldn't happen."

"We were pregnant before and we lost the baby," Kitt admitted. "It was really hard on Nick and just watching him get so excited about something and then to just see him so hurt, that was hard."

After footage aired of the couple's Ultrasound appointment, Carter told the cameras, "So right now, Lauren is 16 weeks pregnant. It still seems unbelievable."

Carter and Burgess then took the stage with a routine that left Carter emotional because it was a tribute to his wife -- whom Carter explained is his inspiration -- and his child on the way. Carter kissed Kitt after the performance and then asked her to join him for the judging portion.

Once backstage with DWTS co-host Erin Andrews, Carter was trying to hold it together while saying he "let it all go" on the dance floor considering he's usually in his head and so technical about his routines. Carter and Burgess then received a perfect score of 30 points from the judges.

Andrews asked an "overjoyed" Carter and Kitt to focus their attention on a giant box and reveal the sex of their baby. The couple took the top off the box and witnessed numerous blue balloons floating out.

Andrews yelled, "It's a boy," with excitement as Carter and Kitt, a fitness pro, hugged and kissed each other.

"Aww, it's a Backstreet boy!" Andrews added.

Carter called Kitt the woman he "dreamed of," his "savior in a lot of ways." The couple starred on I (Heart) Nick Carter together when the series aired last year. It covered their relationship and road to the altar. Before that, Carter's family also had their own reality show called House of Carters for one season.
