The 25-year-old gymnast updated fans on the 29-year-old "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancer's status following Hough's injuries.
Liukin has been training with Sasha Farber since Hough broke his toe and sprained his ankle in rehearsal last week.
"We don't know yet [if he can dance again] so we are taking it week to week," she told People magazine Monday. "Derek will stay in L.A. because he needs to be here for therapy, so all three of us will be in rehearsal."
Liukin, Hough and Farber all appeared on stage to perform on Monday's episode. Hough choreographed a routine for the trio which allowed him to sit on a prop subway seat while Liukin and Farber danced a Charleston.
Liukin and Hough excelled in competition prior to his injuries, and are currently the highest average scoring couple. Actress Willow Shields and professional partner Mark Ballas were eliminated Monday evening.
