While MTV has yet to announce the official premiere date of the upcoming Punk'd series, the network has revealed that viewers will be able to catch a sneak peak of the revival during its annual New Year's Eve special NYE in NYC 2012 airing live on Saturday, December 31 at 11PM ET/PT.

Reports that MTV was considering reviving the series and singer Justin Bieber was in talks to host the show, replacing former host Ashton Kutcher, first surfaced in Fall 2010.

However, Access Hollywood subsequently reported that Punk'd began filming its first episode in August and it will feature singer Taylor Swift as the unsuspecting target and Bieber as the instigator of the prank.

Bieber will reportedly not host the entire series but act as one of the many celebrities who will pull the pranks throughout the season, as a different star will be utilized as host for each episode.

Punk'd's original edition premiered on MTV in 2003 and filmed more than 60 episodes.

Punk'd will continue to be executive produced by Katalyst's Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher with Lauren Dolgen, Colin Nash, Kristina Edwards, and Jennifer Russakoff serving as production executives.
