Seventeen magazine and MTV have teamed for a fall TV series to award the title of America's Sweetheart to the winner of a role model contest.

Producers of the 10-episode "Project Seventeen" said they were looking across the United States for girls with "well-rounded credentials to be a role model to Seventeen's 13 million readers," reported Tuesday.

"We are confident that this will be a series that is completely entertaining --and empowering -- to our joint audiences" Co-Executive Producer Lois Curren said.

The magazine announced the America's Sweetheart competition in its April issue, which also carried a flood of MTV-related news, said.
